MES YEUX VIGILANTS

Welcome to Mes Yeux Vigilants Beaucerons (French for "My Watchful Eyes"). Mes Yeux Vigilants is located in Independence, Missouri, the heart of the United States and is the premier breeder of working and champion Beaucerons. The Beauceron is a large and versatile herding dog from France. The breed has been in existence for over 400 years but has only recently made the transition across the Atlantic to the United States. The Beauceron can grow to an average weight of 90 pounds for males and 75 for females. The hair is medium length somewhere between a Doberman and German Shepherd. They have the markings of a Doberman and can come in all the colors of a Doberman. However, today's Beauceron clubs only recognize two colors, the Black and Tan seen above and the Harlequin (merle). Beaucerons are highly trainable and have a strong sense of family. The Beauceron is highly trustworthy around family members and will defend their family. The History of the Bas Rouge is sketchy at best since most of the breed information has been written in French but we have put some basic information together for you.
Unlike many large breed dogs, the health is fairly good. The main health consideration is Hip Dysplasia.

The care and grooming of the Beauceron is fairly simple. They bath easily and dry quickly. The double dewclaws will require some extra maintenance and that is best accomplished with a grinder for all the nails or a trip to the veterinarian every month.
